German-Indian start-up Nunam is putting three electric rickshaws on the streets of India . These rickshaws are powered by battery modules that came from Audi e-tron test cars. The goal of the project is to figure out how modules from electric car batteries can be reused after they have been used in a car. At the same time, the goal is to give Indian women who use these e-rickshaws to move their goods more business opportunities. Audi's environmental foundation, the Audi Environmental Foundation, is helping the new non-profit company get off the ground. The three prototypes were made by Nunam and the apprentices at the Audi factory in Neckarsulm. The intense cultural exchange also taught the apprentices a lot. As part of a pilot project,  these  electric rickshaws  with batteries that have been used before will hit the streets of India for the first time in early 2023.  They will be given to a non-profit organization, where women, in particular, can use an elec...

The market's second best-selling electric vehicle in all of Europe

When it comes to electric vehicles, the Fiat 500 Electric is the clear winner  in Germany. Although the Fiat brand dropped nearly 30 percent in Italy through the first five months of the year (29.8 percent),  the Fiat 500 Electric emerged as the market's second  best-selling electric vehicle in all of Europe , including Italy, Germany, and France. And this is the case despite the fact that the market for fully electric vehicles or hybrids is not exactly booming. Fiat has been a major player in the latter sector for some time now with its 500 and Panda models. Both cars use the same powertrain, which consists of a 12-volt Bsg (Best-driven starter generator) electric unit with 3.6 kW of power connected directly to the crankshaft and tasked with accumulating energy during deceleration and returning it when the accelerator is pressed. The brand's mission has always been to make technology more widely available and accessible, and this mild-hybrid system was designed to...

The price of electricity will increase by 44% until 2030

Image
According to research commissioned by the European Climate Foundation, the delay and barriers in the deployment of renewables could multiply the price of CO2 in the EU by 80%, with dire consequences for the wholesale market. If Europe does not cut its dependence on coal for energy, the price of electricity will skyrocket between now and the end of the decade . This is detailed in a report by the consultancy  Aurora Energy Research  - commissioned by the European Climate Foundation - which estimates the cost of CO2 could rise by 80% in the next decade if the slow expansion of renewables continues, which would have direct consequences on the wholesale market price. If coal continues to be an option in Europe and the penetration of renewables continues to be delayed, the price of electricity - due to the increase in the price of CO2 and the increase in generation through natural gas plants - will be 44 % higher in 2030 than it would be in a positive scenario where all Stat...
