The Skoda Museum has an exhibit about electric vehicles
The Skoda Museum in Mlada Boleslav reopened its doors to the public after a two-year renovation. Individuals, small groups, and families are all welcome to come to visit at the beginning of the tour. Visitors are obliged to adhere to all appropriate hygiene precautions, including wearing mouth and nose protection where necessary. The theme of electromobility has been added to the permanent display at the Skoda Museum as a new thematic emphasis. The birthplace of Ferdinand Porsche in Vratislavice nad Nisou will reopen to the public after a lengthy closure. In addition to the Porsche 356/1, the company's first production model, the autonomous eVOITURETTE concept, which is a reimagining of the original L&K automobile, may be viewed on display.
In the words of Andrea Frydlová, Director of the Skoda Museum, "We are delighted to be able to welcome visitors to the Skoda Museum in Mlada Boleslav once more before the birthplace of Ferdinand Porsche in Vratislavice nad Nisou reopens its doors to the public." The Skoda Museum is located in Mlada Boleslav, Slovakia. We have put in place several sanitary precautions in order to provide our visitors with the most outstanding possible protection from illness and infection. Therefore, individual guests, small groups of friends, and families are the only ones who will participate in the tour at first. Furthermore, the number of persons who can enter the exhibition rooms is restricted to a specific number of people."
Visitors who desire to examine the Skoda Museum's collection of prototypes and sports vehicles are requested to check-in at the museum's registration desk first before proceeding. Tours of the factories in Mlada Boleslav, Kvasiny, and Vrchlab are not currently available, but they will be on May 10, 2021, according to the museum's website. The health-protection measures follow existing Czech government rules, and they are implemented in light of the current development of the pandemic.
New exhibits will be on display for the reopening.
The Skoda Museum is extending its permanent display to include an exhibit on electromobility in preparation for the reopening. It is possible to see everything from electrified models by Laurin & Klement to previous advances by Skoda AUTO up to the present day in this exhibition. It is possible to observe, for example, the 1940s-era Skoda PUCK children's roadster, the 1991 Skoda ELTRA, and one of the prototypes for the Skoda OCTAVIA GREEN E LINE. There will also be the Skoda ENYAQ iV on show, in addition to the Skoda CITIGOe iV. Additionally, visitors will have the chance to learn about the operation of contemporary electric motors and batteries in greater depth.
The exhibition lays a particular emphasis on the milestone anniversaries this year, including Skoda AUTO's 30-year association with the Volkswagen Group. As well as commemorating their 60th anniversary, the Skoda OCTAVIA COMBI and Skoda 1202 models are also celebrating their 60th anniversary, while Skoda debuted the 110 SUPERSPORT development study' 50 years ago. The exhibition also marks the 40th anniversary of the debut of the modified coupé in the horror film 'The Autovampire' ('Upr z Feratu'), which was screened in the United Kingdom.
The revolutionary mobility idea eVOITURETTE has been added to the permanent display at the Ferdinand Porsche birthplace in Vratislavice nad Nisou, soon expanding. The study, developed by the young Chinese designer Jü-khan Tschang as part of the 'Icons in a new garb' project, is a reinterpretation of a classic icon. eVOITURETTE, a self-propelled, electrically driven vehicle, is a modern reinterpretation of the Laurin & Klement VOITURETTE A from 1905, the world's first automobile to be produced in Mlada Boleslav. It is also possible to observe here the Porsche 356/1, which is the sports car manufacturer's oldest model.
The reconstructed Skoda 1100 OHC Coupe (1959) can be seen in the Skoda Museum in Mlada Boleslav until March 2022. The special exhibition '120 Years of Skoda Motorsport' awaits visitors until March 20, 2022. It gives an appearance of the Czech automobile manufacturer's successes on racetracks and rally tracks worldwide. Another special exhibition on the achievements of Skoda vehicles in the legendary Monte Carlo Rally runs until the end of April. In Liberec-Vratislavice, Ferdinand Porsche's birthplace will be showing a replica of the Auto Union Type C Grand Prix with a sixteen-cylinder engine until the end of March.
Motorsport successes in Mlada Boleslav go back to 1901. To mark the 120th anniversary of Skoda Motorsport last year, the Skoda Museum and the company's prototype shop reconstructed the Skoda 1100 OHC Coupetrue in detail. Only two examples of the closed version of the elegant racing car were built in 1959/1960, which mainly competed in long-distance races on circuits. After their motorsport career, the vehicles changed into private ownership, but both were destroyed in traffic accidents. During the extensive repairs according to historical documentation, the experts from the Skoda Museum and the prototype construction also used original parts and, in addition to traditional techniques from body construction, also relied on modern cutting-edge technology. The now completed, fully roadworthy Skoda 1100 OHC Coupe can be seen at the Skoda Museum in Mlada Boleslav until March 2022.
Until March 20, 2022, the '120 Years of Skoda Motorsport' exhibition documents the long motorsport tradition of motorcycles and automobiles from Mlada Boleslav using impressive projections, historical photographs, contemporary posters, and exciting posters texts, and a 'Wall of Fame' with original trophies. A rally simulator also enables visitors to gain their own experience as rally drivers.
Until the end of April, the new exhibition 'Successes of Skoda vehicles in the Monte Carlo Rally' tells the exciting story of the racing models from Mlada Boleslav at the world-famous motorsport event in the Principality of Monaco and presents selected vehicles. A Laurin & Klement vehicle started here as early as 1912. Since the Skoda RAPID Coupe finished second in its class in January 1936, numerous other Skoda models (Skoda Fabia MONTE CARLO) have participated in the Monte Carlo Rally.
